3.1.3 Moral Rights

Moral rights are rights that enforce people not to copy off other peoples work. One right would be that if someones work is trademarked, other people should not be allowed to copy or plagiarise that persons work. The owner of the work is therefore allowed to take legal action if needed as they have the right to defend their trademarked work.

  • in 2000, moral rights came into copyright in Australia
  • the right to be clearly labelled as the author
  • the right for others to NOT claim your work
  • the right to NOT have the work treated in a poor manner
